Club Nautique is proud to accept US SAILING’s highest accolade for excellence in sailing instruction: the Captain Joe Prosser Award. This prestigious award was created to recognize the life achievement of the Merchant Marine Academy’s first sailing master, Captain C.A. “Joe” Prosser, USMS and is now considered nationwide to be the most revered distinction in sailing training. The award may be given to an organization which has, in the opinion of the US SAILING Training Committee, made an exemplary contribution towards improving the quality and safety in the training or instruction of sailors. Nominees shall embody all characteristics of sportsmen: namely honor, integrity and a selfless dedication to the sport

The award is presented once a year at US SAILING’s National Sailing Programs Symposium. This year’s decision recognized Club Nautique for our outstanding and unparalleled instruction in all areas of keelboat sailing education, particularly for our strides in offshore sailing instruction. Club Nautique not only has the most impressive training fleet on the San Francisco Bay, we have also gone above and beyond the minimum standards set by US SAILING through advanced course work in navigation, radar piloting, close quarters maneuvering and search and rescue exercises, to name a few.

We are very proud of the program that we have here at Club Nautique. We are honored to be recognized and pleased to accept the award.
